Privacy policy

Updated October 22, 2026

Your information stays on your phone. Side B does not collect, sell or share your personal information. We cannot see what you enter, and neither can parole, probation, police or anyone else.

What you enter, and where it lives

Side B lets you enter things like your first name, release date, type of supervision, your officer's name and phone number, appointments, jobs you apply to, a money plan, a resume and how you're feeling each day. All of it is saved only on your device. None of it is sent to us or to any server.

Locking the app

You can lock Side B with Face ID, Touch ID or your phone's passcode. Your phone checks who you are. Side B never sees or stores your face, fingerprint or passcode.

Reminders and your calendar

If you turn on reminders, your phone schedules them itself. Your appointments are not sent anywhere to make reminders work. You can choose to hide appointment details on your lock screen.

If you choose to add appointments to your phone's calendar, Side B puts them in a calendar named "Side B" on your phone. If your phone backs up your calendar to iCloud or Google, those appointments are backed up there too, under your own account. Turning this off removes them.

What the app downloads

Side B downloads its list of local resources, like phone numbers and addresses for programs in Fresno, from our server so the list stays up to date. Downloading the list sends nothing about you.

Anonymous counts (only if you say yes)

During setup you can choose to share anonymous counts that help us show funders the app is working. If you say yes, the app adds one to a daily total when you finish a step, tap a resource, keep a required appointment, make a resume PDF or turn on reminders. For example: "Call tapped for CalFresh: 14 times today."

Like any website, our hosting provider may briefly keep standard network logs, such as IP addresses, to keep the service secure. We don't use those logs to identify people.

What we never do

When you choose to share

Some features let you share things yourself, like your progress report or resume, using your phone's share button. You choose who receives it. Once you send it, that person or app handles it under their own rules.

Links and phone calls

Side B can open your phone's dialer, text messages, maps or websites, like 988 or bus directions. Those apps and sites have their own privacy policies.

Deleting your information

Delete the app, or use "Erase my info and start over" in My info, and everything you entered is erased from your phone. Because we never had a copy, there is nothing else to delete.

Children

Side B is made for adults and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. We will never change it to allow selling your information.
